2017 Estate Cask Sangiovese
Tasting notes
Sangiovese (san·jow·vei·zuh) is Italy's most widely planted grape, found in several regions including Umbria, Abruzzo and Marche, but its spiritual home is Tuscany. Although Sangiovese is growing in popularity around the world, its actually quite sparse outside of Italy. In the US there are only 2,000 acres planted with the majority of the plantings being in California and Washington State. The interesting thing about Sangiovese is that it easily alters its genetics to fit the environment in which it is grown, making it the perfect grape for the Temecula region. Our 2017 Sangiovese is light bodied, lightly colored, with balanced acid and tannins. It exhibits cherry flavors with subtle notes of oven dried tomato's and earthy aromas.
